Students compete at Math Day
Several WHS students placed in the top 3 at the Math Day competition in Emporia last week.
Students participated in individual competitions and team competitions throughout the day. The team competitions were split into three different categories, algebra, geometry and math scramble. Team Mayah Mumpower, Maddie Alderman and Sean Dugger placed second in the math scramble competition with a score of 54 points.
Seniors Maddie Alderman and Dillon Spellman competed in the geometry individual competition and earned second and third place. Alderman also placed second in the individual algebra competition. “After taking the algebra test, I was not very confident. I was very excited to find out I got second,” Alderman said.
