If the 2019 volleyball team qualifies for state this weekend it will seem routine. In 2011 it was a new feeling.
In October 2011 the team extended first-year head coach Tracy Capoun’s season by defeating Burlingame in the sub-state championship. It was the team’s first trip to state in 18 years.
Since 2011, the team has qualified for state 5 times.
Cross country also had a solid year, sending both boys and girls teams to state.
The Chargers look to have similar success this weekend. Wabaunsee hosts both events. Cross country runs at 10 a.m. (girls) and 10:45 (boys). Volleyball starts at 2 p.m. against Central Heights.
