Many kids in high school play more than one sport, but then specialize and take their favorite to college. Alexis Hafensitine is different. She will be playing volleyball and softball at Allen County Community College.
“Alexis is a premier student athlete and always exhibited consistency and work ethic in her high school sports. I wish her all the best as she continues her athletic and academic career at the next level. She is very athletic and takes her academic work very seriously as well,” principal Jan Hutley said.
Hafenstine has played volleyball for WHS for four years and will continue to play at ACCC. She plays as a libero and helped both the 2018 and 2019 team to the state tournament. In 2019 the team won the state championship.
In the spring, Hafenstine played softball for WHS. The team went to the state tournament two times. Hafenstine plays as a utility player so she can play anywhere but in the past she has played mostly third base.
“I chose Allen because the people were really welcoming when I had my visit there. I also love the campus and how everything is basically in one building so I won’t have to walk around too far for class.”
At Allen Hafenstine plans to study for an elementary education degree then continue to Emporia State to finish her teaching degree.
