WHS has hired Kevin Sullivan as high school counselor starting next school year.

Sullivan attended Kansas State University to get his bachelor and masters degree in school counseling. He is currently the counselor at St. Xavier Catholic School in Junction city and has also worked at several other schools in the area.
Sullivan said he is thrilled to join the Wabaunsee faculty and to serve its students. “I’m aware of Wabaunsee’s rich tradition and academic/athletic/overall excellence, having served as counselor at Riley County HS, Manhattan Area Technical College and Rock Creek Jr/Sr HS,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan is married to Janeil Sullivan who is currently a first grade instructor at Riley County Grade School. They have 2 kids: Maggie and Zach, as well as 4 grandkids: Shea, Quinn, Brooks and Burke.
Sullivan said his hobbies include family visits to Lawrence and Kansas City, as well as welcoming family at his home near Riley. “I also enjoy following students’ activities and various events throughout the school year.” He spends his summers mowing yards and painting homes in the local area.
“I look forward to continuing Mrs. Workman’s established practices/programs and overseeing WHS students’ educational/career planning activities,” Sullivan said.
