On October 7, 2011 the Charger football team was 0-5 headed into its rivalry game with the Mission Valley Vikings.
The Chargers put together their best game of the season, earning their first win 21-7. “We’re gaining more confidence and we’re figuring out different skills and positions for players,” head coach Brian Henry said.
This season, the Chargers bring a bit more confidence into the rivalry game, and hope to open the season with a win. A large number of starters return from last year’s team, and the Chargers intend to hit the ground running.
This is a game head coach Jess Rutledge looks forward to every year, as he is a Mission Valley graduate. “It’s a great feeling. There’s no better way to start the season than playing your county rival.”
The Chargers kick off the season 7 p.m. Friday night at Mission Valley High School.
