The 2022 Wabaunsee Winter Royalty king and queen will be crowned Friday at halftime of the varsity boys game. The girls face Rossville at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game. A dance will follow the games until 11 p.m.

“Never get involved with drama that doesn’t affect you.”

“Go to KSU to study so I can be a game Warden.”
Aiden Boeckman
Which activities were a highlight of your time in high school and why?
“State track and going on trips to away football games.”
What is your advice for underclassmen?
“Just do all your homework right away and it’ll make your life a lot easier.”
What is your favorite memory from high school?
“Going on ag trips always just to get last place but at least we would get food afterwards.”
What is one lesson you have learned outside of class that you will always remember?
“Choose your friends wisely.”

Gaige Smith
Which activities were a highlight of your time in high school and why?
“Cross country team meals. They were always amazing and Alderman cookies are a must have.”
What is your advice for underclassmen?
“Just do the work, especially in Mrs. Miller’s class — it’s easy to get behind.“
What is your favorite memory from high school?
“When Stan Russo had an auction during lunch and I won his name tag from his job he had just quit.”
What is one lesson you have learned outside of class that you will always remember?
“Don’t be like Jackson Havenstein.”

“Racism and playing the guitar with someone else singing because I can’t sing.”

Madison Schurle
Which activities were a highlight of your time in high school and why?
“Definitely track meets each year of high school. It’s so amusing watching or participating in each event and cheering on everyone around you. Super fun thing to be a part of.
What is your advice for underclassmen?
“Don’t overload yourself with clubs, classes, sports, etc. It leads to a lot of stress in the end. Do as much or as little as you think you can handle.”

“I would talk about poverty and homelessness. A lot of homeless people are completely ignored and aren’t treated as humans. It’s a huge issue in the US and should be talked about more.

“Euphoria.”
Sydney Holthaus
Which activities were a highlight of your time in high school and why?
“Volleyball for four years, softball for two years, FCCLA for four years, football manager for two years.”
What is your advice for underclassmen?
“Memorize your polyatomics because they will come back to haunt you.”
What is your favorite memory from high school?
“Junior year I questioned Mr. Rutledge on his financial status over a $12 movie and nobody will let it go still.”

“Lizzo and the title would be ‘Clueless.”

“Climate Change. My talent would be laughing at anything that isn’t funny.”

What are your plans after high school?
“I plan to attend Fort Hays State University to major in Communication Sciences and Disorders to then become a speech therapist.”
Sarah Vanstory
Which activities were a highlight of your time in high school and why?
“Hanging out at Eli McDaniel’s house and cabin with our friend group, sitting around the fire and playing Jackbox games.”
What is your advice for underclassmen?
“Make others feel included, get involved, make a new friend, spread positivity! Step up and be the bigger person when you see something wrong going on that the teachers and staff don’t.”
What is your favorite memory from high school?
“The second day of senior year, a bat flew into our first hour of College English class. Mrs. Barton ran down to the office to get Mrs. Parry, and we stayed at our desks screaming watching it fly around the room.”
What is one lesson you have learned outside of class that you will always remember?
“You will never regret being kind.”

“I will attend Washburn University to major in nursing.”
Emma Alderman
Which activities were a highlight of your time in high school and why?
“Cross Country: I made some of the best friends and everyday was a blast (except for power kicks day). Pep Band: The atmosphere in the pep band is very energetic and exciting. Scholar’s Bowl: I am not very athletic but I’m very competitive so scholars bowl is a fun way for me to compete in competitions doing something I’m good at.”
What is your advice for underclassmen?
“Start recording all service activities and hours now. Eventually you’ll be applying for scholarships and colleges and they’ll want to know every little thing.”
What is your favorite memory from high school?
“My sophomore year both girls and boys cross country made it to state and during state week we did an Indian File when it was pouring rain. It was crazy fun and we all ended up soaked.”
What is one lesson you have learned outside of class that you will always remember?
“Don’t worry about what others think about you”

“I plan to attend Emporia State University and major in either English or Education.”
