Wabaunsee High School's Student Newspaper
If the 2019 volleyball team qualifies for state this weekend it will seem routine. In 2011 it was a new feeling. In October 2011 the team extended first-year head coach Tracy Capoun's season by defeating Burlingame in the sub-state championship. It was the team's first trip to state in 18 years. Since 2011, the team has qualified for state 5 times.
WHS added three new elective classes to this year’s schedule, Earth and Space Science, Business Law and Intro to Computer Science.

Issues regarding the loss of electives due to schedule change led the school board to vote in favor of 21-period school days for the 2019-2020 school year. Eight WHS journalism students placed in 11 events at the Kansas Scholastic Press Association regional contest February 28. In the writing contests, students are given quotes and information and must write a story in 90 minutes. The copy editing contest included a short test and a story to comment on. WHS students are working to raise funds for the weight room. Students are taking part in a lift-a-thon March 22 to raise money for the weight room.
