Two Charger seniors have been a constant presence in athletic events for the last four years. Eli Mumpower and Jace Reves are this year’s 12-sport athletes. To be considered a 12-sport athlete, students have to play three sports each year for all four years. These athletes have no break between seasons. When one season ends, the other is often already underway.
The wrestling season ended Saturday with two state placers. Senior Derek Wallin placed 5th and senior Eli Mumpower placed 6th.

Wrestling ended its regular season this weekend with a series of three home events. WHS competes in its district tournament noon Saturday at Silver Lake.
Winter Royalty candidates shared a few reflections on their high school careers. The baksketball teams face Rock Creek Friday evening, and the crowning will take place between games. Watch on the livestream if you are not able to attend in-person.
Two WHS cross country runners are headed to state.
The cross country team hosted its regional meet Saturday, with two runners qualifying for the state championship. Sophomore Rebekah Stuhlsatz came in second in the girls race with a time of 21:46. Freshman Sienna Jones had an eighth place finish, with a time of 23:09 seconds.
Stuhlsatz says it’s disappointing that the rest of the team won’t get to compete at state alongside her, but she’s excited nonetheless.
Wabaunsee wrestling returned to the state podium last weekend.
Friday and Saturday, juniors Eli Mumpower, Derek Wallin and Alex Warner competed at the Class 3-2-1A KSHSAA State Wrestling Championship at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.
Wallin went as far as placing 6th and earning a state medal in the 160 pound weight class.
