Tennis enters the season with hopes to return some players to state and no large changes in protocols due to Covid-19.
WHS hits the courts at 3 p.m. Thursday in Wamego.

Senior Autymn Schreiner ended her tennis career at state with an eighth place finish.
Wabaunsee finished 12th as a team with 8 points. Kansas City Christian School earned the championship with 40.
Schreiner opened against Molly Bender from Conway Springs. Schreiner played aggressive and had no problem earning the win, 6-2, 6-3.
Tennis season will continue for another week.
Three Wabaunsee players placed in the top six of the Hillsboro regional Friday and Saturday, placing 4th as a team and qualifying for the state tournament next weekend in Kansas City.
“It’s a great feeling to send some players to state for the first time,” head coach Brendan Praeger said. “Wabaunsee has had a lot of good teams in the past and I’m glad we’re finally playing on that level again.”
At the tennis courts, it’s common to hear loud arguments about who is driving home or laughter about something that occurred at the dinner table the previous night. With three sets of sisters on the team, including two sets of twins, it’s definitely a family atmosphere.
All three pairs got a chance to play doubles together this season to try out their sibling telepathy.
