The track team traveled to Lyndon on Thursday for its first meet of the season and the first meet since the 2019 season. At Lyndon, the girls finished with 48 points in fifth place, and the boys came in 6th with 35 points.

Stuhlsatz places 14th at state cross country
Rebecca Stuhlsatz and Sienna Jones ended the season with 14th and 42nd place finishes at State.
Stuhlsatz ran a time of 20:40 and Jones 22:11. Both runners cut around a minute off of their regional times. This was Stuhlsatz's second state competition and Jones' first.
State Bound | Cross Country sends 2 girls to state
Two WHS cross country runners are headed to state.
The cross country team hosted its regional meet Saturday, with two runners qualifying for the state championship. Sophomore Rebekah Stuhlsatz came in second in the girls race with a time of 21:46. Freshman Sienna Jones had an eighth place finish, with a time of 23:09 seconds.
Stuhlsatz says it’s disappointing that the rest of the team won’t get to compete at state alongside her, but she’s excited nonetheless.

Cross country enters the season with strong senior leadership and hopes that safety protocols won’t affect meets.
The team opens the season 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Silver Lake.

Seniors saddened by loss of track season
On March 17, Governor Kelly made the decision to close all Kansas school facilities for the remainder of the year, ending the 2020 track season before it ever began.
Track had high hopes for this season, with several returning state qualifiers and medalists, and upperclassmen who “set the tone for what was expected,” according to head coach Roger Alderman.
Cross country teams finish 10th at state
The Cross Country team ran at the state meet in Wamego on Saturday with both the girls and boys placing tenth.
Head Coach Roger Alderman said “The boys ran solid races overall, but I know they were hoping for more.” The boys have run in state for the last three years and are aiming for four.”
Cross Country medals 5 runners at Marysville
The Cross Country team opened its season Saturday at Marysville. Five runners finished in the top 20.
Rebekah Stuhlsatz, Kydnal Maike, Jenna Donaldson, Luke Stuhlsatz and Alex Warner all medalled in the top 20.
