WHS 2020 | #7 Winter sports opens season without fans

To celebrate the end of a year that we are all happy to put behind us, the Charger staff compiled the ten biggest WHS stories of the 2020. From sports to elections to unexpected plagues — it was quite a year. Check back every day until the end of the year to see the biggest stories of 2020.

7. Winter sports opens season without fans

Winter sports opened its season with no fans due to the KSHSAA’s Board of Directors banning fans until January 28. Basketball faced Axtell at home and wrestling hosted a quad meet with an empty gymnasium. On December 4 the decision of not allowing fans was appealed and the board allowed schools to have fans with some restrictions. WHS currently anticipates allowing 2 parents per player at home games when the season starts again in January.
